This Patient Account Representative/Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for taking incoming and making outgoing calls to patients and insurance companies to resolve account balances.
Essential job duties:
account review, customer service, and billing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Complete all business-related requests and correspondence from patients and insurance companies.
Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.
Assist clients and patients in all requested tasks.
Is responsible for medical billing/collecting payments/Financial requirements for patients Communicate to management, areas of concern or areas of improvement.
Performs various collection actions including the following and reporting delinquent accounts to the collection agency.
Contacts patients as the situation require resolving any issues and collect balances when appropriate.
Ascertain the reason for the call and assist the caller with their questions, concerns, or problems with a focus on first-call resolution.
Facilitate resolution by referring the matter to the issue/content expert.
Posts payments and prepares daily deposits.
Research and respond to all patient inquiries/medical billing questions received by telephone and mail.
Update patient demographic information and initiate account adjustments.
Try to resolve account balances to zero prior to accounts being forwarded to an outside agency for collections.
Participates in educational activities and attends department staff meetings Conducts oneself in accordance with company policies and procedures Maintains the strictest confidentiality, adhering to all HIPAA guidelines Other duties as assigned.

Experience - 1 year of medical provider experience.
Proficiency with Microsoft Suite.
Communication - Excellent oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively.
Work Style - Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed, ability to analyze and interpret information, ability to interact and decipher information telephonically and electronically.
